what we make

Generally, anything that can be furnished in custom or standard hollow metal can be furnished by Next Door Company in type 304 or 316 stainless steel in typical no. 4 (satin) or no. 8 (mirror/polish) finishes or a variety of special finishes, including no. 6, non-directional (angelhair) and random swirl. Virtually any spec we receive, we can meet. And, for rush orders, we have inventory in stock and the only stainless steel stick shop in the industry. Bid turnaround time is typically 24 hours or less.

why stainless steel?

Stainless steel offers strength and benefits not found in other door materials:

Corrosion resistance - Stainless steel resists oxidation without the addition of special finishes. It is well-suited to even the most corrosive environments.

Maintenance-free - Stainless steel requires no painting, only occasionally polishing to keep its shine.

Longevity - Stainless steel outlasts galvanized/carbon steel and aluminum. You can expect Next Door stainless steel doors to outlast your building.

Integrity - Stainless steel will not warp or crack.

how next doors are made

Throughout our manufacturing process, we adhere to strict quality standards which results in the highest caliber stainless steel doors available.

Dedicated stainless steel manufacturing facilities and machinery - In contrast, facilities that make both stainless and galvanized/carbon steel may compromise the performance of the stainless. Any stainless steel that comes in contact with galvanized/carbon steel, either by shared tooling or exposure to particles in the air, can corrode at the point where contact was made.

All stainless componentry and weld filaments - A door made of 100% stainless steel will not rust or warp, inside or out.

All seamless edges - Doors can be seamless with fully and continuously welded, refinished and repolished edges to match door faces or can be lockseam construction with a mechanical interlock of four layers of steel.

integral stainless steel construction vs. cladding

Next Door Company never makes a cladded door. Cladding, or applying a stainless steel veneer over wood or hollow metal, produces an inferior product to integral construction. Even the highest fire-rated standard steel door loses its fire rating when cladded.

Problems with cladded doors that do not occur with integral stainless steel doors:

Delamination - almost always occurs in cladded doors, particularly at high stress points.

"Oil Canning" (the "popping" in/out of steel in small patches due to the steel's normal inconsistencies)- always occurs in patches with cladded doors.

Corrosion - occurs from inside out when the "core" door and its componentry are galvanized hollow metal.

Edges - on cladded doors are always unfinished with exposed seams, pop rivets and screws. Even with low usage these seams have a tendency to separate.

Even Alignment - generally unachievable at the margins. Particularly at meeting edges.
