Next Door Company was founded in 1994 by the then 3rd generation of a USA manufacturing family. The company's roots are firmly planted in the fabrication of steel doors and frames, with a heritage that dates back to early 1900's in Bronx, NY.

Bernard A. Schechter

The founding legacy company, World Fireproof Sash & Door, was involved in the early fire test of a steel swinging door with Underwriters Laboratory. Through the years as the company transitioned through different names, it produced steel doors and frames for projects that have shaped American history such as the World Trade Center twin towers NY, NY 1970 -1971 and the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, FL 1965. During World War II, the Bronx factory was commissioned to produce munitions for the war effort. The company was presented with Army-Navy E Award for excellence in production of war equipment during WWII.
